Cumberland House loses Parish Hall to fire

Jul 4, 2017 | 12:29 PM

One of the oldest buildings in Cumberland House was lost to fire this past weekend.

On July 1, at roughly 4:30 p.m., Cumberland House RCMP were called to a structure fire at the northern village’s Parish Hall. The hall reportedly dates back to 1892.

When police and fire arrived, the building was partially engulfed in flames and smoke. The fire advanced quickly and crews were unable to stop the spread. The building was considered a total loss.

No injuries were reported and no other buildings were damaged.
