Good Samaritan helps P.A. police make arrests

A good Samaritan helped Prince Albert Police arrest two resisting suspects over the weekend.

An officer was called to the corner of 15th Ave. E. and 15th St. E. on Sunday afternoon for a complaint of two people drinking on the street. When the officer arrived he spotted two men drinking beer and carrying an open case.

One of the alleged open-air drinkers, a 34-year-old male from Cumberland House, was taken into custody for outstanding traffic warrants but the second man did not intend to go quietly. Sgt. Travis Willie said the second suspect, a 25-year-old man from Broadview, became agitated and resisted the officer’s attempts to arrest him.

While the officer was struggling with the second suspect, the first suspect attempted to intervene on behalf of his friend. The now-outnumbered officer drew his Taser while trying to regain control of the suspects, Willie said, but it was not deployed thanks to a timely intervention by a passing citizen.
