UPDATE: Freezing rain warning ended for Prince Albert area

Mar 25, 2017 | 9:03 AM

UPDATE: The freezing rain warning has ended, but caution is still advised for motorists.

Prince Albert residents woke up to a blanket of ice this morning, accompanied by a freezing rain warning for the Prince Albert area issued by Environment Canada.

According to the national weather service, a low-pressure system over the western province spread freezing rain across the much of Saskatchewan overnight. The system extends from Spiritwood through Prince Albert and Melfort, extending south to Yorkton and north to Hudson Bay.

Motorists and pedestrians were warned to expect slippery conditions, and Saskatchewan Highways reported poor road conditions across the province. The area around Prince Albert features icy or slippery highways as well as loose snow, and may be subject to freezing. Highway travel is not recommended in the areas of Tisdale, Wynyard and Kelvington.
