New detour for Highway 3 bridge replacement

The changing seasons have impacted a detour created along Highway 3 between Birch Hills and Weldon where bridge replacement is underway.
According to Steve Shaheen from the Ministry of Highways and Infrastructure, a detour which was set up around the bridge was washed out by the annual spring runoff.
“A new detour is in place, south and east of Birch Hills to Highway 20 and north up to Highway 3,” Shaheen said.
Shaheen said the plan is to have a lane opened up on the bridge, “fairly quickly,” and said he expects a single lane of traffic will be opened by the end of the week.
