Crusaders head to Hoopla

The Carlton girls basketball team is heading to Hoopla.

The Crusaders qualified for the provincial high school girls 5-A championships by capturing the regional championship. They opened the tournament with a 68-54 win over Swift Current and beat host Estevan 69-53 in the final.

St. Mary lost its opening game 62-49 to Estevan, but defeated Yorkton 49-39 in the consolation game.

The Carlton boys hosted the 5-A regional event but lost 76-42 to Yorkton, while St. Mary fell 71-50 to Yorkton in the semi finals. The Mauraders won their tournament opener 63-51 over Balgonie.

Also going to Hoopla are St. Brieux in 2-A boys, Birch Hills in 3-A boys, Melfort in 4-A girls and Kinistino in 2-A girls.  

Hoopla takes place in Saskatoon March 24 and 25.
