Warrant issued for homemade Taser suspect

Mar 7, 2017 | 1:00 PM

A La Loche man allegedly caught with a homemade Taser is wanted by police after missing a court appearance.

Prince Albert Police seized the improvised shock weapon and arrested 25-year-old Darcy Kyle Herman in early December after a routine traffic stop on 13th St. W. Although initially arrested on several outstanding warrants, a search of Herman’s vehicle led officers to discover the weapon. Herman was subsequently charged with several weapons-related offences and multiple breaches of court orders.

At a Dec. 14, 2016 court appearance, Judge Earl Kalenith ordered a medical fitness report for Herman to determine if he was able to stand trial. After Herman failed to appear at a court date last week, a bench warrant was issued for his arrest.

Police described Herman as 5’7” tall, weighing 140 lbs with black hair and brown eyes, and warned he is known to be violent. Anyone with information on his whereabouts was asked to contact Prince Albert Police or Crime Stoppers.
