Food Bank feeling the love from local financial group

Mar 4, 2017 | 11:00 AM

Prince Albert’s Share-A-Meal Food bank is feeling the love following a month-long food drive.

The city’s Western Financial Group branches held a “Feel the Love” food-raiser campaign throughout the month of February.

Ariel Schutte, client care associate with Western Financial, said the branches took in four big boxes full of food donations.

“We wanted to help local people who need help,” Schutte said. “We’re all pretty fortunate here. Everyone has different situations, but it’s always good to give what you can and help as much as you can.”

Schutte said the branches will look into additional food-raising campaigns in the future.

Wes Clark, executive director for the food bank, said it was pretty exciting to receive the large donation. With Christmas being the busy season and summer being the slow season, Clark said right now the food bank is kind of caught in the middle.

“It all adds up to keeping our services running,” Clark said.

Clark said the numbers around food bank use are rising again, and the bank currently serves around 2,500 to 2,700 residents every month.
