Girolami’s OT winner gives Mintos big 2-0 lead over Contacts

Feb 26, 2017 | 8:32 PM

Prince Albert Mintos forward Mitchell Girolami’s snapbomb sent the Contacts heading back to Saskatoon on Sunday.

With 6:24 expired in the overtime, Girolami got the puck in the high slot from captain Kyle Schneider and roofed it to give the Mintos a 3-2 overtime victory.

It also gives the Mintos a commanding 2-0 Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League playoff series lead over the Contacts in the best-of-five series.

The Mintos had two previous leads in the game, with Alex Moar scoring in the first period and Kyrell Sopotyk potting one early in the third. But the Contacts were able to tie both times, with Ethan Hill and Cole Beamin getting the equalizers.
