Aaron Peck wins 12-dog Canadian Challenge, Marcel Marin takes 8-dog race.

Aaron Peck of Grand Prairie, Alta., has won the 12-dog Canadian Challenge dog sled race. He reached the finish line in La Ronge with seven dogs and a time of 46 hours and 29 minutes.

Peck finished well ahead of his nearest completion, but the race to the finish for second and third place was a nail-biter.

Husband and wife competitors Jason and Jennifer Campeau, of Atka Kennels in Rocky Mountain House, Alta., finished within an hour of each other.

Jennifer came away in second place, finishing with 11 dogs and a time of 52 hours, while Jason finished with six dogs and a time of 52 hours and 57 minutes.

In the eight-dog race, Marcel Marin of Yellowknife N.W.T., finished in first place with six dogs and a time of 20 hours and 44 minutes. Anna Bolvin of Porcupine Plain, Sask., finished in second place with seven dogs and a time of 22 hours and 53 minutes. Rounding out the top three, Jillian Lawton of Rocky Mountain House Alta., finished with seven dogs and a time of 23 hours and nine minutes.
