Crews battle 2-alarm fire at Bonanza in Saskatoon

Feb 22, 2017 | 6:17 AM

Saskatoon firefighters had to work through the night to put out a fire at a well-known restaurant.

Crews were called to the Bonanza Steakhouse on 8th Street East at about 10:40 p.m. Tuesday.

Four engines got to the scene within two minutes of the call coming in. Firefighters first tried to enter the restaurant to attack the blaze. However, they had to back out after about 10 minutes. At that point, the commander at the scene called for a second alarm to bring in extra resources from another station.

Crews tried to get into the building one more time, but again, they had to pull out. Firefighters set up outside the building were eventually able to get the situation under control.
