The ticket checker wasn't broken as Donna Pfeil suspected when she verified her $100,000 winning ticket.

The local woman won the extra in her lottery ticket Super Pack in the Jan. 16 draw. Pfeil purchased the winning Daily Grand and Extra ticket in a $24 pack from the Second Ave. Shell at 149 16 St. W.

The Super Pack contains five quick pick lottery tickets: a Lotto Max, Western Max, Lotto 6/49, Western 6/49 and Daily Grand.

Pfeil said she checked the ticket while she was fuelling her vehicle.

“I couldn't see the ticket checker screen that well, so I was trying to figure out how many zeroes there were,” she said. “I thought it was $10,000, but the number looked too big. I checked it again and saw it was $100,000.”

Pfeil joked she thought the machine was broken at first and couldn't believe she won the prize.
