Titans’ Hordal wins rookie of year award; other briefs

Prince Albert’s Ryan Hordal was presented with a Prairie Junior Hockey League award on Saturday at the Kinsmen Arena.

Hordal was presented with the PJHL Rookie of the Year honour by league president Bob Dybvig before the Titans did battle against the Delisle Chiefs.

The 17-year-old Hordal had 13 goals and 25 points in 24 games in his debut season with the Titans.

The Chiefs closed out the game well with five goals in the third period to beat the Titans 8-2.

Austin Odnokon and Braeden Mishak had the goals for the Titans.

The Titans will wrap up their regular season against the West Central Rage on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at the Kinsmen Arena.

Mintos 6 Argos 1

The Prince Albert Mintos took care of business with a 6-1 victory over the Notre Dame Argos Saturday for their seventh straight win in the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League.

The Mintos got two goals, one assist nights from both Kyrell Sopotyk and Logan Barlage. Defencemen Braden Schneider and Wyatt Arndt also had goals.

The Mintos will take on the other Notre Dame club, the Hounds on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at the Art Hauser Centre.

Bears 6 Hounds 0

The Prince Albert Northern Bears beat the Notre Dame Hounds 6-0 for their first of a two-game set. Both teams will rematch on Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Steuart Arena. 

Bears goaltender Brooklyn Elek got the 14-save shutout. Kate Ball had a goal and two assists, as did Jasper Desmarais.

Camryn Amundson had a goal and an assist.
