UPDATE: Drinking water advisory still on for Air Ronge and La Ronge

Jan 13, 2017 | 6:42 AM

UPDATE: The drinking water advisory for Air Ronge and La Ronge is still on going. Officials expect it to be lifted later this week.

A precautionary drinking water advisory was issued for the communities of Air Ronge and La Ronge today.

The advisory was issued at 5:30 a.m. on Jan. 13 and will remain in effect until the water supply is determined to be completely safe.

The water security agency is asking residents to boil all drinking water for at least one minute at a rolling boil.

Water should also be boiled when used for brushing teeth or soaking false teeth, washing fruits and vegetables, food or drink which will not be heated-up, and ice cubes. Small children and infants should be sponge bathed.

Boil water to wash dishes unless dishes are sanitized in another fashion. Washed dishes and utensils can be soaked in a bleach water solution for at least two minutes to kill any bacteria which may be present. Use rougly two tablespoons of bleach per gallon or 10 ml of bleach per liter of water, and do not mix bleach with soaps or detergents.

Do not drink from any public drinking fountain, use an alternative water source known to be safe. Consult with a physician if you have severe cuts or rashes before using the water.

Please contact the La Ronge Town Office or visit their website for the most recent updates.
