We Play for Shaye one step closer to goal

Dec 9, 2016 | 1:00 PM

The We Play for Shaye campaign received a generous donation today, bringing it ever closer to their fundraising goal.

The Cornerstone branch of Scotiabank presented a cheque for $5,000 to the Prince Albert Minor Softball Association (PAMSA) as part of their pledge to match donations made to We Play for Shaye at the Raiders’ game on Dec. 2.

Melody Kennedy, manager of personal banking with Scotiabank, said the team of volunteers was more than happy to give back and support a worthy cause.

“Anything we can [do to] help. This is an excellent organization,” Kennedy said.

Combined with the matching donation from Scotiabank, PAMSA raised $11,437 at their Dec. 2 event.

Stephanie Ripplinger from PAMSA was on hand to receive the donation. She said the support from the community has been “unbelievable” so far.

“We’ve had amazing support Saskatchewan wide,” she said, “This is something that’s touched a lot of peoples’ hearts, [and] it’s not going unnoticed, we appreciate it.”

According to Ripplinger PAMSA has raised nearly $30,000 of their $67,500 goal to secure the naming rights for Shaye Amundson field at Max Power Ball Park. Amundson died this past June when her car went off the road. She was a member of the Prince Albert Aces softball team.

The We Play for Shaye sticker campaign is still underway and anyone looking to support the cause can purchase a sticker for $5.00, with all proceeds going towards their fundraising goal.
