Czechs cashing in on Raiders’ talent

Dec 8, 2016 | 11:28 AM

Team Czech Republic could get a little help from the Prince Albert Raiders at the upcoming 2017 IIHF World Junior Championships.

Raiders forward Simon Stransky and defenceman Vojtech Budik were named to the Czech team’s selection camp roster on Thursday. They leave for the camp on Sunday, en route to Montreal.

Stransky represented the Czechs last year at the World Juniors, scoring a goal in five tournament games. He leads the Raiders in just about every offensive category this year, including goals (12), assists (15) and points (27).

Budik was selected by the Buffalo Sabres in the fifth round of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft. He represented the Under-18 Czech team at the World Championships and the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament.
