What you need to know to vote in P.A.

Oct 25, 2016 | 2:03 PM

Prince Albert’s civic election is one day away. Are you prepared to vote?

All voters are required to register. If you don’t want to wait in line, the registration form will be provided both at the polls and on the city’s website.

Voters will need to bring either government issued photo identification with both name and address on it, or two pieces of information with name on both and address on one.

Voters who don’t have access to either of the sources above can have an eligible voter to vouch for and accompany them to vote.

All voters will need to be Canadian citizens no younger than 18-years-old who have lived in Prince Albert for at least three months and in Saskatchewan for at least six months. Non-residents who own land in Prince Albert can also vote for mayor and councillor of the ward of their most expensive property.

The polls will be open on Wednesday, Oct. 26, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and all buses in the city will be free.

Voting results will be live during the election day. Unofficial results will be received between 8:30 and 10:30 p.m., while the official posted online Oct. 28 at 1 p.m.

Regular polls are located at Parkland Community Centre, Hazeldell Community Hall, Margo Fournier Centre, Northcote Manor, Midtown Hall, East End Curling Rink, John Diefenbaker School, Holy Cross School, Carlton Park Community Hall, Vickers School, East Hill Community Hall, Arthur Pechey School and St. Anne’s School dependent on residents’ ward.

If none of the above locations are convenient, two super polls – at Alfred Jenkins Field House and Art Hauser Centre – will be available for residents regardless of their ward.

Special polls are available to residents at specific times living in the following residences: Herb Bassett Nursing Home from 10:45 a.m. to 1 p.m., Pineview Terrace Lodge from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., Mont. St. Joseph Home from 3 to 5:30 p.m. and Good Shephard Villas from 6 to 7:30 p.m., and the Victoria Hospital from 9 to 10:30 a.m. only to voters receiving care.
