Big expectations for Field of the Future charity crop

Sep 29, 2016 | 12:00 PM

The 2016 Field of the Future crop is now in the bin.

Redhead Equipment wrapped up harvest this week with a little help from mother nature.

Profits from this year’s crop will go to the Victoria Hospital Foundation to help pay for needed improvements at the Herb Bassett Home.

Arron McLean, sales manager at Redhead Equipment, told paNOW this year’s yield is projected to be 20 per cent higher than expected, and they could have their best canola field ever.

McLean said he would announce the official 2016 numbers during the grand opening of Redhead Equipment’s new location south of Prince Albert, Oct. 13.

The Field of the Future initiative was launched in 2013, as a fundraiser for a chosen community organization. Almost 150 acres are planted, tended and harvested. Over $53,000 was raised in 2015 to support the Buckland Fire Department.
