Police locate assailant with help from K-9 unit

A 32-year-old Prince Albert man is facing a charge of aggravated assault following a stabbing early Sunday morning. The man was apprehended with the help of K-9 Daxa.

At roughly 3 a.m. on Sept. 25, 2016, in the 200 Block of 15th St. W., officers observed what appeared to be two men in a verbal argument. Officers turned on emergency lights and witnessed one of the men flee on foot. A 20-year-old male suffered a single stab wound and transported to hospital, and treated for non life-threatening injuries. Daxa located the 32-year-old male in the 300 Block of 13th St. W.  

The suspect made his first appearance in Prince Albert Provincial court this morning.

In addition, police charged five people over the weekend with impaired driving.
