More delays expected around the bridge

Aug 21, 2016 | 4:00 PM

Traffic headaches due to work on the Diefenbaker bridge may feel more like a migraine in the next couple of days.

There will be some restrictions around the Diefenbaker bridge Monday and Tuesday due to some scheduled paving work.

From 6 a.m. to noon on Monday, Aug. 22, the Riverside Drive and Highway 55 on ramps will be closed for paving.

On Tuesday the Riverside Drive, HIghway 55 and Shellbrook Highway on-ramps will be closed from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Traffic will be detoured to 15th St. N.W. to access the bridge and one southbound lane will remain open throughout construction.

Work is progressing as crews have now moved to the east side of the bridge.

For the remainder of the project there will be two lanes open southbound and one lane open northbound.

City staff has said the expected completion date is the end of September.
