Calgary Flames hire former Coyotes executive Don Maloney as a pro scout

CALGARY — The Calgary Flames hired Don Maloney as a pro scout Wednesday.

Maloney joins the Flames after serving nine seasons as the Arizona Coyotes executive vice-president, GM and alternate governor.

Arizona compiled a 326-291-87 record during Maloney’s nine seasons as GM. Three times the club reached the NHL playoffs.

Maloney received the inaugural NHL general manager of the year award in 2010 after the Coyotes posted a 50-25-7 record, the most successful regular season in their history.
