Basaraba belts two hits in Team Canada win

Nick Basaraba of Prince Albert slugged a pair of singles in Team Canada’s 8-1 win over Isreal at the 2016 World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) Junior Men’s World Softball Championship in Midland, Mich.

The 17-year old catcher with the P.A. Under-18 Astros had two hits in six plate appearances during the group stage of the tournament.

Team Canada picked up a pair of wins Wednesday, recording an 8-0 decision over South Africa to raise their record to 3-2.   

Canada’s first playoff game is Thursday afternoon versus the Czech Republic.
