Basaraba in the middle of Worlds with Team Canada

Prince Albert’s Nick Basaraba has played in two of the three Team Canada games so far at the 2016 WBSC Junior Men’s World Softball Championship in Midland, Mich.

Canada is 1-2 on the tournament with two group stage games remaining. They lost to Japan 9-1 on Tuesday, after a 3-0 win against Mexico on Monday and a 3-1 defeat to New Zealand on Sunday.

Basaraba, who plays with the Prince Albert Under-18 Astros as a catcher, is 0-2 in two plate appearances.

Team Canada will wrap up their pool play with two games on Wednesday. They’ll play Israel at 11 a.m. Saskatchewan time and South Africa at 5 p.m. Playoffs start on Thursday.
