Fire forces northern polling station to move

Apr 30, 2011 | 10:53 AM

A fire this week in Beauval, Sask. has forced Elections Canada to make some last minute changes ahead of Monday’s federal election.

The northern town's rink was set up to be a polling station for 660 electors, until a fire ripped through the complex late Wednesday afternoon.

“There has been a change in the polling site,” said Leanne Nyirfa, with Elections Canada.

“The new polling site is going to be located at the Seniors Villa in Beauval, located at Lot 1-6 Block 9.”
