UPDATE: Suspect in custody after 12-hour standoff in Hoey, Sask.

The small town of Hoey, Saskatchewan came to a standstill today after police engaged in a 12-hour standoff.

RCMP Inspector Roberta McKale, the critical incident commander on the scene, confirmed a man was taken into custody without incident.

According to McKale, police arrived in Hoey shortly after 2:30 a.m. followed by RCMP and tactical teams.

Residents said the incident was a standoff between someone in the neighbourhood and police.
