Trial to begin for 2015 murder and kidnapping case

A short trial is scheduled for a man accused of multiple offenses stemming from an incident last year.

Jonas Budd, who was arrested on Feb. 20, 2015 for allegedly killing 17-year-old Dustin Bird and kidnapping his girlfriend Kayla Natomagan, will stand trial at Prince Albert’s Court of Queen’s Bench tomorrow, June 24 at 10 a.m.

Budd faces numerous charges from the incident, including first-degree murder, break and enter, possessing a firearm while prohibited and kidnapping with a weapon.

Natomagan’s kidnapping sparked an Amber Alert which lasted nearly two hours.
