Saskatoon police fed up with teenagers joyriding in stolen vehicles

Saskatoon police say vehicle owners can help prevent joyrides after two serious car crashes in the last two weeks involving teens and stolen vehicles.

A 16-year-old boy is charged with impaired driving after allegedly stealing a truck and crashing it near Meewasin Park Tuesday morning. Four teens were in the truck and were taken to hospital.

The truck was apparently stolen from a Montgomery neighbourhood, where police say a key was left in the ignition.

“We are seeing far too many stolen vehicles that are taken because the keys are left in the ignition or the doors are unlocked,” said Alyson Edwards with the Saskatoon Police Service.
