Flood insurance for Canada?

Apr 26, 2011 | 11:10 AM

Historically only coastal countries were thought to need flood insurance.

But with intense rain and sewer back-ups Canada has seen a lot of water.

The Institute for Catastrophic Loss Reduction wants to form a strong partnership between homeowners, the insurance industry and all levels of government in order to make flood insurance a reality, said Glenn McGillivray, the managing director for the.

“We like to see government get into flood defense, you know dikes, weirs and damns and floodways and things of that nature,” he said.
