Regina airport CEO disappointed with Delta ending flights

The CEO of Regina’s airport says he’s disappointed that Delta Air Lines is pulling its service.
Delta Air Lines is pulling its flights from the Regina International Airport, with the last day of service being July 31.
In a news release from the Regina International Airport, Dick Graham said Delta had a 43 per cent increase in traffic from March 2015 to 2016, and more passengers since the airline added a larger plane in November.
Graham admitted the low Canadian dollar and economic downturn may have played a factor in the decision. He also said there was a passenger decrease in April, and advanced bookings had softened.
“Our passengers, who successfully supported this route for many years including outstanding traffic growth the past 12 months, are first and foremost in our minds right now and we will focus our efforts on our existing carriers and actively pursue new opportunities that ensure their needs and expectations of Regina International Airport continue to be met,” said Graham in the release.
The airport said anyone who has booked with Delta past July 31 will be accommodated by WestJet.
