Onion Lake assault turns to murder after victim dies in hospital

The death of an Onion Lake First Nation man after an assault resulted in murder charges against an Alberta man.

On Friday, April 17, Onion Lake RCMP were called to a residence on the First Nation where a man was in distress. He was transported to hospital in Lloydminster and then Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon before dying from his injuries.

Louis Carson Pipe, 39, from Kehewin, Alberta was taken into custody and originally charged with aggravated assault. His charge was elevated to second degree murder after the man’s death.

Pipe is scheduled to make his first court appearance in Lloydminster Provincial Court on Monday at 10 a.m. The autopsy has been scheduled for Tuesday in Saskatoon.
