Standoff in Regina as man refuses to surrender to police

A northwest Regina street was blocked off overnight as Regina police officers dealt with a standoff.

The Regina Police Service was called at 10:30 p.m. Wednesday about a 30-year-old man with a knife who had allegedly threatened someone. When officers arrived at the scene on the 400 block of Royal Street, the man refused to surrender.

The street was blocked off as members of the crisis negotiator team worked to end the situation.

As of 7:30 a.m. Thursday, officers remained on the scene.
