Paramedics hit the trail for snowmobile accident

Parkland Ambulance Paramedics had to use their mobile response unit for the first time in 2016 on Saturday, Feb. 20.

The unit was needed to reach a 25-year-old male snowmobiler requiring attention. He was injured on a trail inaccessible by car.

The sledder was taken to hospital with injuries by the mobile response unit.

Paramedics had a busy weekend otherwise, responding to 77 calls from Friday, Feb. 19 to Sunday, Feb. 21.

On Friday they responded to a 41-year-old man with injuries at 7:20 p.m. after an assault at the corner of 32nd and Second Ave. W.

Shortly after, they responded to a car crash at Second Ave. and 27th St. W. An 11-year-old minor was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

On Saturday, a 61-year-old man was taken to hospital in good condition after a car crash at 15th St. and Sixth Ave. E. They also travelled to a crash on Hwy. 263 near the golf course in Emma Lake. There were no injuries.

After an assault in the 1400 block of 13th St. W. paramedics treated a 29-year-old woman with minor injuries. They also responded to an assault in the 700 block of Second St. E. to care for a 31-year-old woman with minor injuries.

Both were taken to hospital for further care.

Paramedics warn drivers to be careful on the roads after warm weather, followed by drops in temperature left slippery conditions and fog.
