Help fund Harry’s way to recovery

Feb 5, 2016 | 5:34 AM

A needy puppy named Harry is in need of your help. A GoFundMe campaign was launched in his name to pay for the stray’s lengthy veterinarian bills.

Korbin Parada and his girlfriend first spotted Harry in ditch roughly 30 km north of La Ronge. They dubbed him such, actually due to his lack of hair. The dog was skinny, appeared to be covered in sores and Parada said he could help but intervene.

“We’re always rescuing dogs,” Parada said. “This is the first time we’ve ever made a GoFundMe account. But this dog is in the most serious condition that we’ve ever rescued.”

The pair spent the next five days trying everything they could to catch the dog, from traps to a dog house decorated in food. When they finally caught him, they drove almost four hours to Saskatoon to bring the dog to the We All Need a Rescue animal shelter.

Harry’s vet bills are estimated at $7000 and his recovery is expected to take will take six months. His case is very severe. Including being very underweight, he has multiple bleeding sores and also suffers from mange which makes his skin feel like it’s on fire.

“There’s lots of dogs around (La Ronge). Lots of the dogs need help and no one is helping them so we took it upon ourselves. I don’t know, it just seems like the right thing to do. Lots of these dogs need help and they’re not getting it from anybody.”

The GoFundMe page has raised $870 out of its $5000 goal. You can donate to Harry’s cause on the Go Fund Me site
