Fatal hit and run at Sweetgrass First Nation

The Battlefords RCMP are investigating a fatal hit and run collision that took place at the Sweetgrass First Nation on Wednesday evening.

Upon their arrival RCMP said they found a man suffering from significant injuries laying near a grid road.

The man was air lifted by STARS Air Ambulance to Saskatoon’s Royal University Hospital where he passed away the following evening due to his injuries.

A 35-year-old man was arrested on Thursday morning and is being charged in connection to the incident. Police have also seized a vehicle believed to have been operated by the accused at the time of the collision.

It’s believed the victim was walking along the road when he was hit by the vehicle.
