Ropes, manpower and a tow truck were used during a rescue attempt east of Prince Albert on Wednesday.

Shortly after 1 p.m., the Prince Albert Fire Department responded to a call that several horses had fallen through the ice of a slough on a farm property.

Peter Surkan and Brenda Smith from Park Range Veterinary Services were called in to assist, as well as Lakeland Towing,

Firefighters used chainsaws to cut away the ice and get the horses closer to the shore.
