Aside from the incredible cost saving, there are innumerable benefits to moving a family to Kinistino’s Whelen Sub-Division.

“For us, it was an easy decision,” says Norman Soyland, the first new homeowner in the Whelen Sub-Division. “We were in Weldon before and looked around a bit, but for us, especially with the location of the lot, we have the best of both worlds living in town and looking out into the fields. The Kinistino School is a Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 12 School with approximately 265 students. Classroom sizes average 20 students per grade.

The school also houses an in-school daycare. This means that young families can expect their children to attend the very same school within eyeshot of their home from nursery age until they graduate.

For working families, the daycare has already proved to make life much less stressful as all the kids are in one location. Kinistino working parents do not have the stresses of arranging times and dropping off children at different locations.  Children in elementary classes have a short walk down the hall to and from the daycare to the classroom, and never have to leave the building.

Kinistino School is very serious about its after-school activities and has particularly excelled provincially in basketball and volleyball.

Immediately beside the school is a full sized community centre that houses a hockey/skating rink, curling rinks and gymnasium. There is a gas station that features a Saskatchewan Transportation Bus Company (STC) stop.  If you want a day out to go swimming in the summer or ice fishing in the winter, Kinistino is only 15 minutes away from the Struther’s Lake Regional Park. Kinistino is also home to two of the largest Agricultural dealerships in the province: Farm World and Ag World Equipment.

The envy of other smaller communities, every street in Kinistino is fully paved and guttered with new pavement being completed very recently.  The town provides garbage collection, recycling programs and is well known for continual street maintenance – particularly noteworthy after blizzards when the crews are up cleaning off the streets before most residents are heading out for the day.

Kinistino can really be considered a bedroom community. We are a short drive to Prince Albert, which is about 35 minutes or to Melfort which is 20 minutes away.
