Guhle may play for PA in Portland

The Prince Albert Raiders finally got the news they were waiting for. The Buffalo Sabres have reassigned defenseman Brendan Guhle.

The 18-year-old veteran of two WHL seasons has made a good early impression with the NHL team that drafted him in the 2nd round last June. The Edmonton area product signed an entry level contract with the Sabres after an impressive development camp as he stayed with the team for an additional week after camp. The performance of the fast skating rearguard at rookie and main camps earned Guhle playing time in the preseason. He picked up a pair of assists in one game against Toronto but was injured in another game against the Leafs after taking a heavy hit from Toronto captain Dion Phaneuf.

Guhle was taken off the Sabres injured reserve list on the weekend and started his journey back to his junior team on Monday.

The Sabres selected Guhle much higher than his ranking by several scouting services after a five goal and 27 assist season with the Raiders in 2014-15.
