Serving Prince Albert and area for over 70 years Prince Albert Co-op continues to help feed, fuel, build and grow the community.
The Prince Albert Co-op has deep seeded roots in agriculture, generations of experience and an understanding and a commitment to serve their customers. At Prince Albert Co-op customers can become members and members are owners.
The Prince Albert Co-op’s Agro Centres offer a full line of agricultural supplies and services including fertilizer, chemical and seed. Each centre has one or more agronomist’s on staff that can help give local farmers and producers insights into growing trends and concerns. They carry a full line of Meridian, Westeel and Behlin bin products and they offer various financing options.
“We are here as a support system for the growers in the area,” said Lauren Cromartie, livestock and crop input specialist with Prince Albert Co-op. “The one thing that is really unique about our system is our team aspect. We have six Ag retail locations in the area and four of them are in different communities, three serving the PA area and one in Kinistino, one in Canwood and one Shellbrook. So we have a pretty large spectrum geographically wise.”
In September SaskBusiness Magazine ranked Prince Albert’s Co-operative Association as one of Saskatchewan’s largest companies. In the magazines list of top 100 the Prince Albert Co-op placed 36th overall with 2014 sales totaling $232.4 million. Today including all the branch locations the Prince Albert Co-op employs approximately 585 people.
At Prince Albert Co-op they work with their customers to help them understand their Ag production plans and goals.
“Not only are we offering crop inputs, seed, chemical and fertilizer but with that comes our expertise and experience in the field. So we can really build a good relationship with our customers and help them get the best yield possible,” said Cromartie.
With a promise to stay local, a commitment to community and a business model that shares its profits in the form of cash back the Prince Albert Co-op is always ready to lend a hand.
“Just the way the business model works for our company is very, very cool,” said Cromartie. “All of our profits are going back into our community whether it is through our equity program or it’s through donations to community events and fundraisers or new buildings we are very focused on supporting locally.”
Right now until Oct. 31 the Prince Albert’s Co-op’s Ag department is offering a variety of promotions that can offer multiple savings for local farmers and producers. Those promotions include the Double Down with DEKALB ,Protect and Collect, and Pump Up Your Savings
