Potash Corp backs away from K+S takeover deal

Oct 5, 2015 | 8:37 AM

After a rejected takeover bid, Potash Corp of Saskatchewan (PCS) says they’re backing away from trying to buy the German rival.

After two attempts to buy K+S PCS said they’re pulling the roughly $8.8 billion offer off the table adding it’s no longer in the best interest of the company.

PCS said a slump in commodity prices and the refusal of K+S to engage in talks derailed the deal.

The Legacy Project camp opened in 2014 and is expected to house and employ 1,700 workers once the mine becomes operational in 2016.
