Roughrider fans ecstatic after team’s first win of the season

With the threat of a double-digit losing streak looming, the Riders managed to pull out a win for the Labour Day Classic.
 
Sunday’s game bring the Riders’ Labour Day Classic winning streak to 11 games. And Rider fans are relishing the end to the green and white’s losing streak.
 
“Riders showed what they were made of it, was incredible. You know what, they made up for all the last games that they didn’t play as well in and they finally discovered what they’re about, it was incredible,” said one man.
 
After cheering on the team from Sask Drive, one woman decked out all in green said “I thought we were going to win today, for sure, for sure, I had a good feeling … This is just the first one of many, this only just the ice breaker.”
 
“Finally we actually got a win, except it was against one of the worst teams of the season,” said another woman.
 
One who lives in Winnipeg, but is from Regina and was back for the game said he was happy for the win. 
 
“We earned it, Rider Pride is Canada-wide, win or lose.”
 
The rivalry continues next week with the Riders heading to Winnipeg for the Banjo Bowl.
 
A record of 1-9 isn’t exactly sterling, but at least one fan didn’t seem to mind, as long as the Riders keep it up at Investors’ Group Field.
 
“As long as we beat Winnipeg again, that’s all that matters. We can go 2-16, as long as we beat Winnipeg twice, that’s all that matters.”
