Elm tree pruning ban lifted

Sep 3, 2015 | 8:54 AM

A ban on pruning elm trees in Prince Albert has been lifted

The ban began in April and officially came to an end on Aug 31.

The ban that was in accordance with provincial regulations ensures that elm bark beetles, which transmit Dutch elm disease (DED), are not attracted to the pruning cuts when these beetles are most active.

The city would like to remind residents that when removing elm trees they need to remove the entire tree and dispose of it at the nearest approved landfill site.
