Woman dies while in custody in Regina

A woman has died while in custody at the White Birch Female Remand Unit in Regina.
 
She was pronounced dead on Thursday morning. Foul play is not suspected at this time.
 
Police are investigating the inmate’s death and the Ministry of Justice will also conduct an internal investigation. It will also be referred to the Provincial Corner’s office for review.
 
The ministry will provide an update to the media later this morning.
