132nd Prince Albert Exhibition deemed ‘very successful’

Aug 4, 2015 | 6:21 AM

The President of the Prince Albert Exhibition said he is very happy with the turnout to this year’s summer fair.

Over 30,000 people passed through the gates between Tuesday and Saturday. This is pretty much on par with recent years.

“The rain for the first day kind of dampened spirits for everything but from there it picked up,” said Jim Wilm.

A few of the popular attractions this year included hoop and fire dancer Safire, as well as the jigging contest that was held in the Steuart Arena.

“The entertainment on the track with the chuck wagons and chariots seemed to have good attendance, and there was a full house for the demolition derby which is always a huge attraction,” said Wilm.

One change made this year by the Exhibition Association was a new security team, out of Saskatoon.

Wilm said he heard many compliments about the security staffers.  He said the people at the gate and the commissionaires did an equally great job.

“Any little issues that we had were taken care of right at the time and so I think everything went well,” he said.

Wilm said he has talked to Bobby Hauser, West Coast Amusements Manager, and was told that he too was equally happy with how the week went.

A spokesperson for Prince Albert Police said it was a “quiet” week at the Exhibition.
