Bryton Sayers is going to be playing a lot closer to his hometown of Prince Albert next season.

On Wednesday, Sayers was traded to the Saskatoon Blades from the Victoria Royals in exchange for a conditional fifth round pick.

Sayers, who will enter his 19-year-old season, has played in the WHL for two years. His first year and a half was with the Lethbridge Hurricanes, who dealt him to the Royals at the trade deadline. Sayers has 23 points in 104 games in his WHL career as a defenceman.

Before his WHL career, Sayers played two years with the Prince Albert Mintos, with whom he won the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League Defenceman of the Year Award in the 2012-2013 season.
