RCMP investigate murder on Red Earth First Nation

Carrot River RCMP are currently investigating a homicide that happened on the Red Earth First Nation.

The RCMP detachment received a call for an injured male at a residence on the First Nation on Saturday, July 25 at about 11:20 a.m.

When they got there, they found a 42-year-old man dead in the home. They determined him to be the victim of homicide. 

A 16-year-old boy and a 20-year-old man were arrested for murder that afternoon at two residences on the First Nation.

The RCMP Major Crime Unit – South, Tisdale and Prince Albert Forensic Identification Section, Regina and Yorkton General Investigation Sections, Nipawin RCMP and the Office of the Chief Coroner are all assisting the Carrot River RCMP with the case.

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday, July 27 at the Saskatoon City Hospital. 

RCMP said no names will be released at this time as charges have not been laid and the case is still under investigation.

The Red Earth First Nation, which is part of the Prince Albert Grand Council, is just over 200 km northeast of Prince Albert.
