Air quality no longer concern in P.A., statement continues elsewhere

Jul 8, 2015 | 8:31 AM

For the first time in nearly two weeks, Prince Albert, Melfort, Tisdale and Nipawin are free from a special air quality statement related to smoke from northern forest fires.

Environment Canada issued the statement at the end of June as smoke hung in the air, with particles from that posing a risk.

This should provide some relief for the elderly, children, and those with respiratory issues like asthma. Currently, Prince Albert is housing thousands of evacuees who have been forced from home by the fires.

On Wednesday morning, Environment Canada wrote that southwesterly flow will spread smoke back over most of the province’s northern regions.
