Byrne heading to Championship Sunday

Prince Albert’s Tanner Byrne punched himself a ticket to the Championship Sunday at the Calgary Stampede bull fighting competition.

Byrne earned 88.5 points on bull Sugar Smack to split the Day 4 win with Fabiano Vieira. Those two rides are tied for the best rides in the four-day challenge so far.

The 23-year-old Byrne won Sunday’s competition by nailing an 85-point ride on bull Silence Reins. On Saturday, Byrne rode bull Blue Stone to an 83-point ride.

In 2013, Byrne finished in second place at the rodeo.
