Planned power outage for Victoria Hospital Thursday, Friday

A planned power outage overnight on Thursday and Friday at Victoria Hospital may disrupt operating room service.

The outage will take place from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. each night in order to allow for the final repairs required after a transformer failure in May and a city-wide power outage earlier this week.

The main operating room will be affected, which may lead to patients being transferred. The obstetric unit’s operating room will be available for emergency caesarean sections.

As well, the CT machine will also be affected, which may also lead to patients being transferred.

It may also affect information systems and telephones for a brief period of time.

The outage won’t affect the Herb Bassett Home, Pineview Terrace, Family Treatment Centre, Mental Health inpatient, or Brief and Social Detox Centre.

Visitors are being asked to check in with hospital staff or security if they are in the building after 9 p.m.
