Aces trump opposition during weekend tournament

On Friday, the Prince Albert Aces showed why they’re the top ranked sides in Girls Prairie League Softball.

The U18 Aces picked up a tidy 8-3 win over the North Battleford Renegadez to improve their record to a division best 5-1 Friday at Prime Minister’s Park.

The Aces had a 6-0 lead after the opening three innings before the Renegadez cut the lead in half by the fifth inning after scoring two in the fourth and another in the fifth. The Aces were able to shut the door late with an important two-spot in the sixth inning to seal the victory.

The U16 Aces also improved their record to 5-1 after a 12-4 win over the Lloydminster Rebels on Friday. The Aces had a 7-4 lead after the opening three innings of play, but were able to run away with it as the game worn on. They scored five unanswered runs to get their weekend off to a winning start.
