BOBs voting ends today

May 27, 2015 | 9:02 AM

Today, May 27, is the last day to get your final votes in for this year’s Best of the Best Awards (BOBs).

Voting began three weeks ago for paNOW’s second annual BOBs Awards, and similar to last year, the tallied number of votes to date proves how passionate paNOW readers are about recognizing the best of what Prince Albert has to offer. Within the first 24 hours, there were already more than 70,000 votes cast, a week later that number rose to over 168,000. Today, there have been more than 386,000 votes cast so far with approximately 18,000 votes cast per day.

The top nominees in over 200 categories in the areas of Local Goodness, Arts and Entertainment, Health, Beauty and Style, Sports and Recreation, Food and Drink and Shopping and Services have been busy since voting began, getting the word out to better their chances to win with social media being used most extensively. Bold Dance Productions, The Spice Trail, and Frontrunner Footwear are just a few examples of businesses that have been actively promoting their nominations.

But businesses are not all that people can vote for the BOBs are also an opportunity to nominate community groups, special places, or community members that they feel deserve to be recognized, and today is the last chance to vote for them and support them.

Some top nominees this year in some of those categories include:

-Brittany Hudak, Debbi Kellett and Kim Schick for Best Local Girl Made Good

-Dave Manson, Donny Parenteau and Kelly Taylor for Best Local Boy Made Good

-Carlton Comprehensive High School, Ecole Vickers School and Queen Mary Community School for Best School

-Downtown Street Fair, NORTEP-NORPAC WEEK (NNW) and the Summit Run for Best Community Event.

This year the BOBs does still feature all of the same categories as 2014, plus a few extra including: Best Environmentally Responsible Local Company, Best Example of City Planning, Best Firefighter and Best Local Hero to name a few.

If you are a top nominee, or if you know someone, someplace, or something that deserves to win, then don’t wait, there is no time vote now

Voting will officially end at midnight. The 2015 BOBs winners will be announced on June 3.

Save the Date: 2015 BOB Awards Party will take place on June 17.
