“It’s a great way to showcase the talented youth that is in Prince Albert,” said Ryan Spracklin, production manager for the E. A. Rawlinson Centre.

“We are doing our best to represent our facility here and what the main purpose the facility was built for, and that was kind of introduce youth and all of the community to arts in the city.”

After going through an audition process and workshop, a group of performers took the spotlight at the E.A. Rawlinson Centre on Friday night.

Sophia Wallace, senior category performer, has been in the show for the last three years.

“[I do] lots of practice in front of the mirror with my hairbrush,” Wallace joked. “I’ve been Youtubing lots of nice warmups and just stage presence and stuff like that.”

Faith Akres, 11, was vibrant as she prepared to perform the song ‘Riptide’ by Vance Joy with her band Cold Beat.

She spoke about her experience auditioning for the event.

“I think our whole band was pretty nervous,” said Akres. “And really excited, at least I was really excited, and sort of like thinking ahead, like ‘oh my gosh are we going to get through?’”

The best of the performers were awarded with the titles of Senior Star, Junior Star and Novice Star.
